York Carnival 2007

Details: 

York Carnival, put together by University, City and Community groups, will take to the streets of York on Sunday 6th May. There will be events in Parliament Street, St Sampson's Square, Kings Square, Coppergate and elsewhere all day, with money raised going to charity. The theme of this years event will be sustainability, and various local environmental groups will be involved, including York Rotters and participants in the city's Critical Mass.

An outline of the events is now available on the organiser's website, but no route for the procession has been announced. Various schools are set to be involved, with Music Students from University of York having taken schools workshops in recent weeks. Events start in Parliament Street with a balloon launch and will end with a Ceilidh for all to take part in, starting at 7pm. St Sampson's Square will see a long line up of dance acts, and elsewhere there will be art exhibitions and stalls.
