Fossgate closed due to drinkers
Today some 300 people descended on Fossgate for the annual beer festival. Over 20 different beers were offered throughout the day, and a barbecue served locally made burgers and sausages. While the festival lacked some of the announced components (no kids activities visible!) the mood was definitely good.
The road remained closed all day, and picnic tables blocked the way, creating a car free venue. Although this was not a political event, the odd shout of "who's streets, out streets" was heard, drawing odd looks from other drinkers. Fossgate is now the subject of a third application to include it in the pedestrianisation scheme, following two previous attempts where the council agreed, and then forgot to implement, the changes.
This was definitely a community event worth attending, though more stuff happening would be good, and the lack of music was almost deafening in its own way. Maybe someone'll bring a sound system next time!

Fossgate Closed
The way it should stay.
Update on the fundraising from the festival £2500 was raised. Much of it, I believe, to go to Westfield Primary so they can run a trip for kids that don't get to go away and had funding denied.
