The Press is reporting about a Kurdish family living in York to be deported back to Turkey. Deporting Kurds to Turkey is of course something this Goverment thinks is a good idea :-(

Seems a group called Refugee Action York is launching a campaign to help keep them here. Any one know them? Anyone know how to help fight deportions from York?

Asylum seekers Voucher Exchange
Another organisation helping is Jesuit Refugee Services, there is a note in this month's Fairer World News:
"Some people with Asylum cases pending etc receive support vouchers from the government but these can only be spent on food (not on transport, say) with restrictive conditions and no change is given. The Jesuit Refugee Service is compiling a list of people who use supermarkets who would be ready to buy these vouchers for cash. Details at Fairer World."
