York Branch, Palestine Solidarity Camapign and the Green Party worked together to ensure a warm welcome for a dozen hardy activists who are pedalling from Faslane to London, via the big cities and strategic sites such as Menwith Hill and Lakenheath, demanding justice for one victim of Israeli vindictiveness.

Mordechai Vanunu is the man who authoritatively told the world what was till then an open secret, i.e. that Israel has a nuclear weapons production line at Demona in the Negev, and a stockpile of an estimated 200 plus nuclear warheads. Israeli thugs kidnapped Vanunu from Rome and put him in jail for 18 years, 11 of those in solitary. He was released 2 years ago but kept under controls, so he can't travel. One of the aims of the ride is to press for his release so that he may take up the post of Rector at Glasgow University to which he was elected several years ago.

One of the nastiest pieces of hypocrisy on the world scene today is the drum-beat of threats against Iran while turning a blind eye to Israel's stockpile of WMDs.

The cyclist pictured is a Palestinian,Mohammad,who has come over epecially for the event and last year cycled London -Jerusalem in support of Vanunu.In the afternoon the group cycled on to Ripon where they were welcomed by members of the York branch of the PSC, who provided dinner at the Water Rat Restaurant. Local volunteers also provided free accomodation
