The BNP are going to be standing in the Heworth Without Ward by-election http://www.york.gov.uk/council/Elections_and_democracy/elections/local_e... no doubt using another chance to platform their parties racist policies.
Their only woman standing in the last round of local elections stood in Holgate in and got 463 votes.

These are the results of the by-election held on Thursday 6 September 2007:
* AYRE Nigel John, Liberal Democrat - 914 votes
* EVERETT Charles Dixon, Green Party - 58 votes
* KNIGHT, Michaela Susan, British National Party - 63
* SINCLAIR, Adam Michael, The Conservative Party Candidate - 703
* WELLS, Margaret, The Labour Party Candidate - 219 votes
Turnout
* 3,171 people were eligible to vote
* 1,960 people voted on 6 September
* this is a turnout of 61.8%.

People only have so much time for politics
Not suggesting people are stupid.. but most are overworked with busy lives and only so much time, energy and patience for politics, so yes, many can be suckered in by a superficial populist sloganeering because they just ain't got time to go digging.
Which is why the UAF campaigning is valuable. Lots of people aren't aware of the BNP's Nazi ideology, their admiration for Hitler, their denial of the Holocaust, their 'interesting' views on Jews, or their links with white supremacist terrorists.

Does it matter where the meeting was held? Or are you lot going to bully the pub owner into not letting the BNP hold another meeting?
It might matter to the locals
Any pub in know in York if the locals knew that it was being used by the BNP they would be bullying the Landlord into not letting them hold another meeting there. So maybe it matters! If the locals were made aware of what type of people were meeting there?

It was no secret, locals saw us entering and leaving and didn't care. Its the landlords choice anyway. If some people don't like it they can always drink elsewhere. What do you mean by "the type of people" who were meeting there?

It shouldn't be much of a suprise that the BNP have held meetings here. York is one of the most rascist places in Uk that i know and have lived in. THts why it continues to be almost exclusively white and why York City Council refuse to apologise to the Jewish community about its historic persecution at Cliffords Tower.
The BNP are harnessing the broken classes'( what was working class) sense of powerlessness and grief. Only a truly liberating politics of the ordinary people is going to create the conditions for this to die. Labour is dead as far as i can see. I am looking to the radicalisation of politics from the grass roots up. but lets not confuse who are the enemy. Its not already marginilised minorities which threaten a quality of life for the indigenous Brits, but the stupidity of politicians and their failure to protect the ordinary people from the exploits of the greedy capitalists/ corporate agendas. Dont lose heart BNP sympathiser, just widen your perspective from one of bullying. The truth will set us all free and safegaurd the future for all.
