This meeting will allow you to point out all the errors in the bill, the mega omission and anything else which takes your fancy. The bill currently fails to mention the fastest growing cause of emissions in the UK: Flying. It also comes at a time when the same government is planning another bill to wipe out all the carbon gains by aiming to increase a favourite activity of the rich: Flying. December Critical Mass - Short report and Images

Date:
1 Dec 2006

Setting offSetting off York saw the successful restart to Critical Masses continue for another First Friday of the Month ride. The December turn out had plenty of tinsel and 'Father Christmas' hats around. In amongst overwhelmingly supportive motorists - often at first bemused, but then with smiles - the mass made a safe space to ride round York, taking the roads for non-polluting traffic.

Critical Mass finally achieved in York!

We're not blocking traffic: we are traffic! At 6pm on Friday 3rd November York's Critical Mass finally got moving. After two months of spreading the word, at 5:30pm around 60 cyclists began assembling outside the Minster. With a bike-mounted sound system and lots of tinkling from bike bells, the ride set off to spread the message that cycling is good for the environment and definitely lots of fun.

York's newly launched Critical Mass was first announced on this site on 7th September and an article entitled "What is Critical Mass?" appeared some time later. Photos from the event have now been published here as well. Look out for more as the next ride approaches!
