Posted April 29th, 2007 by GrahamThis week will be a busy one for the city of York, as citizens head to the polls on Thursday. Many will be hoping that BNP votes are kept to a minimum, with Acomb one of the more worrying areas. Final leafleting rounds will be undertaken, in the hope of ensuring as many votes cast for 'positive parties'. As both Labour and Lib Dems are seen by many as having failed the city, the results could be interesting.
York Council "gerrymandering"
Posted November 21st, 2006 by DaveTaylorSurvey options are either to refurbish Edmund Wilson Pool or build a new pool alongside the new sports centre at Oaklands. However, the Council surveys will only be sent to homes in Holgate, Rural West, Dringhouses & Woodthorpe, Acomb, and Westfield wards.
The important thing is now to vote on the 'Net if the Council didn't post you a survey form. Closes 5th December! Click here to say they should seek another site, in the city centre, er... like the Barbican site for instance. (Link opens in a new window.)

Posted September 27th, 2006 by DaveTaylorYork Council’s planning committee meets to discuss York Barbican Centre. The first application is to vary the conditions on the Barbican Centre so that work on the massive drinking den, night-club, and possible casino can start.
The second is to allow the Council and the other developers to break their promise to build a replacement swimming pool on Kent Street.
We are opposing both applications but we need help. If you disagree with what the Council is doing at the Barbican please join us outside the Guildhall, St Helen’s Square at 4pm.
You will not have to speak but please attend the meeting to show this council what you think.
