York Green Festival planning meeting

Green Festival a sunny success
Posted August 1st, 2007 by GrahamSeveral hundred people enjoyed a day of music and sustainability in the sun at York's first Green Festival this year. After months of planning and wrangling with the odd less-than-helpful council official, the event went off without a hitch. Stalls promoting everything from radical direct action to composting and organic foods gave out information on ways people can contribute to a more sustainable world. 6 bands performed on the stage, and DJ's mixed all day in the main bit of the park, except for the times when a cycle-mounted punch and judy show was keeping the kids entranced.
York Green Festival
Posted July 9th, 2007 by GrahamThe Festival aims to promote local community and campaigning groups, green and ethical businesses, and complementary health practices. There will be stalls promoting a peaceful and sustainable future, many run by local voluntary groups. We have an excellent line up of live music, a solar powered cinema, DJ area and more. We hope to have food available throughout the event, and children's entertainment is also planned.
Details of what’s planned and how to book a stall are on the event's websites http://www.myspace.com/yorkgreenfestival and http://ygf2007.blogspot.com. The festival is not organised by the Green Party, before anyone asks!

Planning meeting for Peace Festival / Green Gala
Posted March 4th, 2007 by AnonymousCome and get involved in the planning of York's 2007 Peace Festival (AKA 'Green Gala'). The festival will be held in Rowntrees Park as in previous years, and is provisionally booked for Sunday 29th July. Come along with a list of campaigning groups / bands / singers etc you'd like to invite, decide who we should ask for sponsorship, choose ways to power the event, and much more. (see the 2004 website for ideas: http://www.yorkpeacefestival.org.uk)
NB A 2007 festival is the idea of CrUST (Credit Union Support Team) - a new group which has been formed to support the (non-profit making) York Credit Union.
