Refugee Week celebrates the contributions asylum seekers and refugees make to our community. As part of this national, annual event, there are a range of event taking place in York:
Asylum and Refugee Display - York Minster
Friday 15 June - Sunday 24 June
Information on asylum seekers and refugees as well as on groups and projects across Yorkshire.
Information Stall - Parliament Street
Saturday 16 June, 11am-3pm Free
Information, quizzes and storytelling for children.
Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Health - L/037, Langwith College, University of York
Monday 18 June from 5pm Free
A discussion on health issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers. Plus a look at mental health needs and provision with Gill Martin from Solace.
Battle of Algiers - York City Screen
Thursday 21 June - 6.15pm
A showing of this excellent film followed by a discussion.
Kurdish Cultural Event - Tang Hall Community Centre, Fifth Avenue
Saturday 23 June - 1-3pm Free
Music, songs, food, face painting. Fun for all the family. Please bring a dish to share. All welcome.
