Posted July 11th, 2006 by yimc
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign returned to protest outside
York Minster. They previously successfully protested with War on Want,
to get the Synod to divest from Companies supporting the illegal
occupation of Palestine [details and photo]. This success has
yet to be implemented by the Ethical Investment Advisory Board.

Women Bishops appear in York
Posted July 11th, 2006 by Anonymous3 female students dressed as Bishops appeared outside University Central Hall, Monday, to greet members of synod (1/5th of them real Bishops, all male!) as they arrived to take part in this weekend's second debate on the divisive issue. The 3 were members of the Dalek Collective.
The stunt was warmly welcomed by many passing members of synod, and questioned by others. One found the stunt childish, another thought it was pointless given that other recent votes on the issue had overwhelmingly supported such a move by the church; perhaps evidence that the church still doesn't know how to handle a public who are increasingly interested in its diliberation.
York PSC demonstrate outside the Church of England Synod Service
Posted July 10th, 2006 by mrandycOn Sunday 9th July members of York PSC held a demonstration outside York Minster while members of the general synod were arriving for a service. The demonstration was to thank the synod for voting to divest from Caterpillar but at the same time to highlight the fact that Ethical Investment Advisory Board has to still act on the Synod's decision.
