Music to Change the World by: Attila and Rovics @ Kennedy's

Event time:
10 Oct 2007 - 20:00 - 10 Oct 2007 - 23:00
Details:

For the first time ever, American protest singer/songwriter David Rovics plays in York, alongside Attila the Stockbroker and Tracey Curtis. Promises to be a great night of entertainment and politics.

Rovics has performed at some of the biggest American anti-war demonstrations, received an award in Palestine for his work promoting Palestinian Human Rights causes, and written songs about a huge array of issues, from the illogical policies of the Bush era and the inadequate response to New Orleans, to historic protest movements and places which have become forgotten victims of recent wars.

Attila describes himself as a punk-poet, who's work is critical of modern pop-culture's often shallow world-view, tabloid misrepresentation of asylum seekers and New Labour's many injustices, not least the Iraq war.

Tracey lives in Wales, and writes all her songs for one or other of her children. An up-and-coming protest folk artist, she's definitely a worthwhile support artist.
